Here are some Guides http://www.skywarnonline.com/index.p...trainingguides I do not know about Online Classes but there are spotter classes. there are no such things as NWS Chaser Classes. https://apps.weather.gov/outreach/MI.php Here is Detroits schedule. as for videos I can tell you what NOT to watch.....TWISTER or any of its sequels or prequels. it is all science fiction. you should always ALWAYS ride with someone when chasing that way one person can focus on driving and getting the flip out of dodge if need be while the other can focus on the storm.

Supposedly the two best SkyWarn training videos can be found on this web site:
http://www.thestormshop.com/SKYWARN.htm
I've got them and they are good, but a bit dated. I like Mike Hollingshead's Storm Structure 101 DVD the best.

If you are looking to chase, I would strongly advise going with someone that has experience in chasing. Taking Skywarn classes are where I first started years before I ever went on my first chase. One book I really like is the Storm Chasing handbook. It has a nice run down of some basic weather setups and some things to expect while chasing. In your spare time, read and watch anything you can get your hands on that shows storm structure and can give you some kind of visual aid. It will make SO much more sense when you step into the field the first time!
