This is a picture a friend of line tool standing on the hood of his semi truck. This tornado killed a mother and her baby.

Make sure you watch the Weather Channel for the Storm Stories or Cantore Stories for the Murfreesboro special on April 6. I don't know what time it will be on, so check for your local time.
Thanks for sharing that picture.
I went to Murfreesboro several weeks after that and saw some houses with blue tarps on the roof. I also saw some that were demolished. I was speechless and tears welled up in my eyes. I had to shake myself back to reality before I had a wreck. Murfreesboro will never forget it. I live just 30 to 35 minutes away from there, so it is like it hits home.

I live near Manchester and it got bad here. The Murfreesboro tornado was first spotted 5 miles west of town by a spotter who had just taken the spotter class weeks before.

I remember Tom telling us about that last night. That's why it's so important to keep having classes and training more spotters, you never know who will see and be able to report a tornado to save lives. That new spotter saved a lot of lives that day.

How bad did it get on your side of town? I had my own storm and warnings to deal with that day, but it never got that bad. I look forward to seeing the special on the Weather Channel. Tom (class instructor) will be in it.

You will have to remind me. We just had wind and heavy rain. I remember 101.5 said there was a funnel cloud heading towards hillsboro but I was in Hillsboro and didn't see it.

I saw some rotation starting and was watching some clouds get pulled in towards it. It didn't last long at all. I say someone turned that in as a funnel cloud too soon. I didn't because it never turned into a funnel or even start to take that shape. It stopped quickly as well and went on. A few minutes after that, I heard the warning and we had gotten a wind gust with the trees bowing over, but no damage, funnel cloud, rain, or hail happened. That happened on the backside of my house and what I saw was in the front side of my house. Two totally different areas, so I know it wasn't what I saw that should have been reported. I drove around and never saw any clues as to a tornado or a funnel cloud. That will remain a mystery to me. Now that there are two of us in the same area, we can relate what we see to each other.

That's right! How do you take an advanced class.

By just going to another class-they are the same. The class in Shelbyville had more spotters and Hams and only one or two newbies, so Tom turned it into an Advanced, but it was the same info. Let's just get you on your way to that title, ok? We'll get you into more classes and out in the field this season.
We don't actually have an advanced class as it is associated as being advanced. What truly makes you advanced is furthering your knowledge and experience. We'll work on that, ok?
